This paper is on Koraga tribes in Karnataka. The name koraga and the people who are recognized as koraga are found in Karnataka and kerala. In modern Karnataka these people are fount in three coastal districts namely. Uyttaraa kannada ,Udupi and Dakshina Kannada. In Kerala major conceteration of these people is found in Kasargodu district. Controversially, the tribe recognized under the lable Narikorawa is found inTamil nadu and has been suspected as ethnic kindercd tribe of koraga community.

The main aim of the paper is to cheek whether the attitude of ethinc  identity of koraga tribe in Karnataka really evidentiate this above said corrcalation  between Narikorawas and Koragas.    Koragas in Kerala are not considered under this study just because of conveniences and conveyances. However, Koragas of Karnataka and Koragas of Kerala are having greater degree of agreement ethnic and ethno linguistics identities. Therefore most necessary thing is to cheek the ethnic identity agreement between Tamil Nadus Narikorawas and Karnataka’s Koragas.

The basic skeptic idea rouse because of the similar ethnic labels, which are four in number .i.e Korawa ,koraca, korama and korawanji. were believed to be the alternative labels to Koraga tribe. But when we plunged our questionnaires into the actual speech community we found that most of the Koraga community people denied that they are no Koragas.

Many do not who may be Koracas ,Korawas and Koramas.Howerer.Very few informants recognize that they know Korawanji community and asserted that they do not belong to their region and caste. Matrimonial alliances between these two distinct labels are not socially acceptable.

As far as the labels Koramas and koracas are concerned these people show greater degree of resistance to recognize or identity them under that labels. Inwardly the Koraga tribe seems to believe that these two are lower than them. But many Koragas deny that they never heard a caste of the kind. Some Koragas who move across the district borders are showing resistance.
Attitudes of the ethnic identity are to a greatest degree with the lable “Koraga” and specifically they deny the lable “Korawa”.
Ethno linguistics identity is korbhäşe and they are speaker of it. The language spoken by them is not Koraga bhase but it is Korbhase.
Ethnic identities out side the attitudinal evendenccs, dorps with the majior occupation they do in relation with main strean. Koragas of Karnataka are histocally know in mainstream communities as basket makers for which etymological information from Tulu language Kor-meass ‘basket’es found.
But Tamil Nadu Narikorawas are literally associated with Nari which means Fox and they sell foxes kin, fox teeth , fox nail, fox hunting. which are having some theological  relevance in main stream communities.
By observing the following facts we conclude that Ethnic relation between Koragas of Karnataka and Kerala and Narikorawas of Tamilnadu is not traceable in spite of the point that both the ethnic labels are having common phonemic sequence Kora in it.
